The name Olterra is quite unique—what’s the story behind it?

In Greek, “Olterra” (or Ølterra) translates to “The Land of Beer,” with “Øl” meaning “land” and “terra” meaning “beer.” Together, they symbolize a place where beer reigns supreme. Inspired by Greek mythology, our restaurant brings this concept to life, blending ancient traditions with a modern love for craft beer.

How would you describe Olterra’s vibe and experience to someone visiting for the first time?

Olterra offers a unique and immersive experience that transports you to a world where Greek mythology meets the spirit of craft beer. As you step inside, you’ll be surrounded by a vibrant, yet relaxed atmosphere, where ancient Greek elements are thoughtfully blended with modern design. Can you tell us more about the craft beers available at Olterra? Do you have any signature brews that patrons must try?

So we have our five beers on tap and all the beers are our signature as you cannot find this type of craft beer anywhere in Kolkata

How do you go about curating the menu? Are there any standout dishes that pair best with your craft beers?

While curating a menu we do a lot of Research of the market so that we can come up with a unique menu that is palatable for everyone!
So the standout dishes that pairs best with craft beers would be our beer battered fish , mac and cheese popcorn and our unique sushi’s!

The location itself is historic, and the interiors have a distinct Greek-inspired touch. What was the thought process behind this fusion of old and new?

The thought process behind this fusion was to create a place where guests could feel a sense of timelessness and connection to something larger, while still enjoying the comforts and conveniences of the modern world. It’s about offering an experience that feels both grounded in history and excitingly forward-thinking—a place that invites both contemplation and celebration.

The summer season is already here, what are the new brews that we should be looking forward too?

Yes we are looking forward to some new brews but we are not disclosing it right now The only hint we can give is it would be something seasonal and fruity!!
