INSAT-3DS Launch Today: Why ISRO Calls the Rocket Their ‘Naughty Boy’

INSAT-3DS Launch Today: ISRO is all set to launch its GSLV F14/INSAT-3DS mission today from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota at 5:35 PM. This mission is aimed at deploying the weather-related satellite INSAT-3DS into space for more accurate weather forecasts and natural disaster warnings.

Importance of INSAT-3DS Launch

INSAT-3DS holds immense significance for India’s space agency as it is capable of providing highly accurate weather forecast information by studying the surface of the ocean, aiding in disaster prevention as well. While INSAT-3DS launch is crucial for India’s meteorological agencies, its carrier GSLV F14 is often referred to as the “naughty boy” of the Indian Space Agency.

Why GSLV F14 is Termed the ‘Naughty Boy’?

GSLV F14 is embarking on its 16th mission, carrying the INSAT-3DS weather satellite into space. However, it has been dubbed the “naughty boy” of the Indian space program by a former ISRO chief. GSLV has faced several setbacks in the past with a failure rate of 40%, encountering issues in six out of its fifteen space missions so far.

INSAT-3DS Mission Details: Everything You Need to Know

ISRO is fully prepared to launch its weather-related satellite INSAT-3DS on Saturday, February 17. The primary objective of launching this satellite is to enhance weather-related observations and provide better weather forecasts and disaster warnings.

About INSAT-3DS

INSAT-3DS satellite has been designed to monitor both land and ocean surfaces for advanced weather observations and disaster warnings. It is expected to augment the current weather-related services provided by operational satellites like INSAT-3D and INSAT-3DR. This satellite will greatly assist India’s meteorological agencies in delivering rapid and accurate weather forecasts.
