NEP to integrate modern ideas in education: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Varanasi. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that ‘our education system and young generation carry a big part of realizing the pledges of the ‘Amrit Kaal.’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi added that the foundational aim behind the National Education Policy(NEP) is to bring education out from the limits of narrow thought-process and to integrate it with the modern ideas of the 21st Century.

“I am sure that soon India will emerge as a global hub for education. To this end, we are creating world class institutes that will help in creating opportunities for the youth. We are making sure that NEP is not just another document in the files, but a roadmap that guides our education system,” he said.

He also added that in the present times, sectors and opportunities that were earlier sclerotic, are now being opened up for all. Many marginalised groups are now enjoying unprecedented opportunities.

Through the National Educational Policy (NEP), we aim to create employers, he added. The Prime Minister said that the education system and the youth have the responsibility of fulfilling the dreams of Amrut Mahotsav.

The PM highlighted that in the new policy, the entire focus is on making children skilled according to their talents and choices of the children. “Our youth should be skilled, confident, practical and calculative, education policy is preparing the ground for this”, he said.

The Prime Minister lauded the effort that went into the preparation of NEP, however, he emphasized that the momentum was not let down after the preparation of the policy. There has been constant discussion and work on the implementation of the Policy.

He said that not only did India recover rapidly from the Covid pandemic, but it also became one of the fastest-growing large economies in the world. “We are the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem now,” he added.
