Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate three major technical facilities of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Kerala today. During his visit to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), he will also review the Gaganyaan Human Spaceflight Program.
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate a Trisonic Wind Tunnel, Semi-Cryogenic Integrated Engine Test Facility, and Solid Propellant Space Booster Segment Integration Facility at various ISRO facilities across Kerala. VSSC is ISRO’s premier center responsible for the design and development of launch vehicle technology.
According to ISRO, the Trisonic Wind Tunnel generates a controlled subsonic to supersonic airflow to evaluate the aerodynamic characteristics of rocket and aircraft models. The tunnel has a test section of 1.2 meters and can produce speeds up to four times the speed of sound (Mach number 4.0).
