South Korea’s DENURI Orbiter Reveals Stunning Chandrayaan-3 Landing Site

The Chandrayaan-3 landing site was photographed by South Korea’s lunar orbiter, DENURI, lately, according to a thrilling development reported by the Indian Embassy in South Korea. The pictures were shot at the Chandrayaan-3 landing site, sometimes later named as “Shiv Shakti Point,” which is situated on the southern pole of the moon.

Images of the distinctive terrain of the moon’s southern pole have been successfully taken by the lunar orbiter DENURI, which circles at an altitude of around 100 kilometers. At ‘Shiv Shakti Point,’ the landing area, the moon’s southern pole is around 600 kilometers away.

When the Indian Chandrayaan-3 mission touched down on the moon’s surface on August 23, it created history. The rover is operating around-the-clock to collect a ton of data as the surface and atmosphere of the moon are being investigated.

 

On August 5, it successfully touched the lunar orbit, and on August 17, it disengaged from the lander module. On July 14, ISRO had launched Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The mission objectives of Chandrayaan-3 are to demonstrate a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, to demonstrate rover roving on the Moon, and to conduct in-situ scientific experiments. The DENURI Korean lunar exploration mission is expected to last until December 2025. International cooperation in space exploration and research is facilitated by the photographs of Chandrayaan-3’s landing site that DENURI took.

This cooperation highlights the interest of many nations across the globe to investigate and unravel the secrets of the moon.
