Teacher's Day 2023
Shikshak Diwas, also known as Teacher’s Day, is observed in India every year on September 5 to commemorate Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary. He was the nation’s first vice president and president, as well as a scholar, philosopher, and the recipient of the Bharat Ratna, the nation’s highest civilian honor. On the occasion of Teacher’s Day 2023 students across the country are gearing up to make this day special for all educators.
When Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan became India’s second President in 1962, his students went to him and requested that they be allowed to observe September 5th as a special day. Instead, he suggested designating it as Teacher’s Day to recognize the vital role teachers play in society. The famous quote from Dr. Radhakrishnan goes, “Teachers should be the best minds in the country.”
UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund), and the ILO (International Labour Organization), among others, are leading the global campaign known as World Teachers’ Day, which is observed on October 5. It honors the 1966 ILO/UNESCO guideline for the duties and obligations of teachers, their initial and ongoing education, and requirements for their hiring, job status, and instructional settings.
Teachers’ Day is observed on September 5 in all Indian educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities. Students take part in a range of activities, including as speeches, dances, and lavish performances, to demonstrate their love for their favorite lecturers.
Everyone, especially those who are not currently enrolled in school, should take advantage of this occasion to express gratitude to their teachers for serving as role models and to acknowledge the profound influence they have had on their lives. It is open to everyone, not just those who are attending high school or college right now. Because they form the basis of an excellent education, most teachers take pride in their students’ successes.
Students bring flowers, treats, chocolates, and hand-made cards for their favorite instructors on Teacher’s Day. They show their gratitude and respect. On Teacher’s Day 2023, senior students participate opportunity to formally assume leadership roles and signify a change in roles.
They usually carry out instructional duties while dressed formally. Students find it simpler to relate to and respect their professors as a result of the role-reversal.
