ASI Unveils ‘Adopt a Heritage 2.0’ Program: Introducing the Indian Heritage App and E-Permission Portal

What is Adopt A Heritage 2.0′ initiative?

The ‘Adopt A Heritage 2.0’ initiative and a new mobile app are being released on September 4th, 2023, by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). This effort, which strives to specify the services required for diverse monuments under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958, evolved into this program in 2017.

Good news for history lovers everywhere! The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is getting ready to begin the ‘Adopt A legacy 2.0’ campaign on September 4, 2023, with the goals of preserving India’s rich cultural legacy and fostering economic growth. These sites, which total 3,696 protected monuments and are dispersed throughout the nation, are not just significant historical sites; they also hugely contribute to India’s cultural character.

What is the purpose of this program?

‘Adopt A Heritage 2.0’ intends to build on the achievements of the prior strategy introduced in 2017 by improving visitor experiences and amenities at these important landmarks. Corporate entities are encouraged to take part by contributing money from their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) budgets to the preservation of these cultural treasures.

In accordance with the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958, ASI has created a roadmap of the amenities that are required for various monuments and sites under this program.

Details

The program’s goal is to get corporate stakeholders involved in playing a significant part in keeping these monuments around for future generations. Discussions with many stakeholders, careful consideration, and other factors are all part of the selection process for stakeholders.

Mobile Application

The “Indian Heritage” mobile app will also be unveiled by ASI at the same time as the presentation. This user-friendly software will serve as a digital showcase of India’s heritage places, offering state-by-state information, images, a list of services that are available to the general public, and a method for users to provide input. The software will be released in stages, with Phase I focusing on ticketed monuments.

Websites

Through a specialized web portal located at www.Indianheritage.gov.in interested parties can submit an application to adopt particular monuments or facilities. The portal provides in-depth details on the available monuments, regular analysis, and facility cost estimates.

In order to speed up the process of getting permits for photography, filming, and development projects at these historical sites, an e-permission portal (www.asipermissionportal.gov.in) will also be introduced.
