Sony Announces ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Starring Tom Holland – Release Date & Details
Sony Pictures has officially revealed the title of the much-anticipated fourth Spider-Man movie featuring Tom Holland. Titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the film is slated for a theatrical release on July 31, 2026. The announcement was made on Sony’s official social media platforms and at CinemaCon 2025, where director Destin Daniel Cretton shared his enthusiasm for the project.
Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, took the stage at CinemaCon, expressing his lifelong admiration for Spider-Man. He emphasized his connection to Peter Parker’s “humor” and “messy humanity.”
Tom Holland, appearing in a video segment, thanked fans for their unwavering support and teased that Spider-Man: Brand New Day represents “a fresh start” for the character. Cretton echoed this, calling it “a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”
The title Spider-Man: Brand New Day is inspired by the 2008 Marvel comic storyline, which follows a reality-altering event that erases Peter Parker’s identity from the world. This perfectly aligns with the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Doctor Strange’s spell caused everyone to forget Peter Parker.
The movie is penned by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, the writers behind Spider-Man: No Way Home. It continues Sony’s partnership with Disney and Marvel Studios, ensuring Spider-Man remains part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Alongside this announcement, Sony confirmed that the highly anticipated animated film Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will debut in theaters on June 4, 2027—four years after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
At CinemaCon, Sony unveiled the first footage from the animated sequel, featuring Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) stating, “Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go, I’m gonna do my own thing.” The film will see the return of Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Gwen, with Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and David Callaham as the writers.
While Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2019, its sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse grossed an impressive $682 million globally. Fans now eagerly await both Brand New Day and Beyond the Spider-Verse as Spider-Man’s cinematic journey continues.
